Birth & Lineage

Born in Medina around 38 AH, Ali ibn al-Husayn was present at Karbala as a young man but, gravely ill, was spared the battle — and through him the line of the Imams continued.

Life & Virtues

In captivity, together with Lady Zaynab, his words awakened the conscience of the people of Kufa and Damascus and carried the truth of Karbala to the world. He devoted his life to worship and is remembered for the supplications of al-Sahifa al-Sajjadiyya and the “Treatise on Rights.”

Passing & Legacy

He passed away in Medina around 95 AH, poisoned by the Umayyads, and is buried in Jannat al-Baqi.
