Dua Alqama
A supplication recited immediately after Ziyarat Ashura, asking God by the right of Husayn to grant one’s needs and the intercession of the Ahl al-Bayt in this world and the next.
You don’t need to read it — you may simply listen. In the sight of God the two are equal; what matters is that you take part.

O Allah, O Allah, O Allah, O Answerer of the call of the distressed, O Remover of the anguish of the afflicted, O Succour of those who seek succour, O Hearer of those who cry for help, O You who are nearer to me than the jugular vein, O You who come between a man and his heart, O You who are in the highest view and on the clear horizon, O You who are the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful, established on the Throne, O You who know the treachery of the eyes and what the breasts conceal, O You from whom nothing hidden is hidden, O You whom voices do not confuse, O You whom needs do not cause to err, O You whom the insistence of the importunate does not weary, O You who overtake all that eludes, O You who gather all that is dispersed, O Creator of souls after death, O You who are every day in a (new) matter, O Fulfiller of needs, O Reliever of distresses, O Granter of requests, O Patron of desires, O Sufficient for the important affairs, O You who suffice from everything and whom nothing in the heavens and the earth can suffice. I ask You by the right of Muhammad, the Seal of the Prophets, and of Ali, the Commander of the Faithful, and by the right of Fatimah, the daughter of Your Prophet, and by the right of al-Hasan and al-Husayn, for through them I turn to You in this station of mine, and through them I seek means, and through them I seek intercession with You; and by their right I ask You and I adjure and solemnly beseech You, and by the standing they have with You and by the rank they have with You, and by that by which You favoured them above the worlds, and by Your name which You have placed with them and by which You have distinguished them from the worlds, and by it You made them manifest and made manifest their excellence above the excellence of the worlds, until their excellence surpassed the excellence of all the worlds. I ask You to bless Muhammad and the family of Muhammad, and to remove from me my sorrow, my anxiety and my distress, and to suffice me in the important matters of my affairs, and to settle my debt on my behalf, and to grant me refuge from poverty, and to grant me refuge from neediness, and to make me free of having to ask of created beings, and to suffice me against the worry of those whose worry I fear, the oppression of those whose oppression I fear, the hardship of those whose hardship I fear, the roughness of those whose roughness I fear, the evil of those whose evil I fear, the plot of those whose plot I fear, the transgression of those whose transgression I fear, the authority of those whose authority I fear, the scheming of those whose scheming I fear, and the power over me of those whose power I fear, and to repel from me the scheme of the schemers and the plot of the plotters. O Allah, whoever intends (harm) for me, turn it back upon him; whoever schemes against me, scheme against him; and turn away from me his scheme, his plot, his might and his desires; and prevent him from me however You will and wherever You will. O Allah, preoccupy him from me with a poverty that You will not mend, and an affliction that You will not cover, and a neediness that You will not close, and a sickness that You will not heal, and a humiliation that You will not restore to honour, and a destitution that You will not mend. O Allah, strike humiliation between his eyes, make poverty enter his home and sickness and disease enter his body, until You preoccupy him from me with an engrossing occupation that leaves him no respite; make him forget my remembrance just as You made him forget Your remembrance; and seize, on my behalf, his hearing, his sight, his tongue, his hand, his leg, his heart and all his limbs; and make sickness enter upon him in all of that, and do not heal him until You make that an occupation that preoccupies him from me and from my remembrance. Suffice me, O Sufficient One, what none but You can suffice, for You are the Sufficient, there is no sufficient one but You, and a Reliever, there is no reliever but You, and a Succourer, there is no succourer but You, and a Protector, there is no protector but You. Disappointed is he whose neighbour is other than You, whose succourer is other than You, whose refuge is other than You, whose escape is to other than You, whose shelter is other than You, and whose deliverance is from a created being other than You. So You are my trust, my hope, my refuge, my escape, my shelter and my deliverance. Through You I seek success, and through You I seek attainment, and by Muhammad and the family of Muhammad I turn to You, seek means and seek intercession. So I ask You, O Allah, O Allah, O Allah, to You belongs praise and to You belongs thanks, and to You is the complaint, and You are the One whose help is sought. So I ask You, O Allah, O Allah, O Allah, by the right of Muhammad and the family of Muhammad, to bless Muhammad and the family of Muhammad, and to remove from me my sorrow, my anxiety and my distress in this station of mine, just as You removed from Your Prophet his anxiety, his sorrow and his distress and sufficed him against the terror of his enemy. So remove from me as You removed from him, relieve me as You relieved him, suffice me as You sufficed him, and turn away from me the terror of what I fear its terror, the burden of what I fear its burden, and the worry of what I fear its worry, without any hardship on myself in that; and turn me away with the fulfilment of my needs and the sufficiency of what concerns me of the affairs of my Hereafter and my worldly life. O Commander of the Faithful and O Aba Abdillah, upon you both be peace from me forever as long as night and day remain; may Allah not make this the last covenant from visiting you both, and may Allah never separate between me and you. O Allah, make me live the life of Muhammad, Allah’s blessings be upon him and his progeny and his offspring, make me die their death, take me upon their creed, and gather me in their company, and do not separate between me and them for the blink of an eye, ever, in this world and the Hereafter. O Commander of the Faithful and O Aba Abdillah, I have come to you as a visitor and one seeking nearness to Allah, my Lord and your Lord, turning towards Him through you, and seeking intercession through you with Allah, the Exalted, in this need of mine. So intercede for me, for you have with Allah the Praiseworthy Station, the eminent standing, the elevated rank and the means. I am turning away from you awaiting the accomplishment of the need, its fulfilment and its success from Allah through your intercession for me to Him in that, so I shall not be disappointed, and my turning away shall not be a disappointed, losing turning away; rather, my turning away shall be a profitable, prosperous, successful and answered turning away through the fulfilment of all needs and an intercession for me to Allah. I have turned away in whatever Allah wills, and there is no power and no strength except by Allah; entrusting my affair to Allah, leaning my back upon Allah, relying upon Allah, and I say: Allah is sufficient for me and enough; Allah hears the one who supplicates. There is no resort for me beyond Allah and beyond you, O my masters. Whatever my Lord wills happens, and whatever He does not will does not happen. There is no power and no strength except by Allah. I entrust you to Allah, and may Allah not make this the last covenant from me to you. I depart, O my master, O Commander of the Faithful, and my protector, and you, O Aba Abdillah, my master; my peace upon you both is continuous as long as night and day continue, reaching you without being veiled from you — my peace, if Allah wills. And I ask Him by your right that He will that and do it, for He is Praiseworthy, Glorious. I have turned away from you, O my two masters, repentant, praising Allah, thankful, hopeful for the answer, not despairing nor despondent, returning, coming back, reverting to your visitation, not disinclined from you or from your visitation; rather, I shall return and come back, if Allah wills, and there is no power and no strength except by Allah, the Most High, the Almighty. O my masters, I have turned to you and to your visitation after the people of the world renounced you and renounced your visitation. May Allah not disappoint me in what I have hoped and what I have expected in your visitation; surely He is Near, Answering.
